Montessori business opportunities

Montessori is an ideal educational system for work at home moms. Dr. Maria Montessori emphasized the need for early education. She wrote, "The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the period from birth to age six. For that is the time when man's intelligence itself is being formed". The Montessori Method sees each child as a unique individual. By creating an ideal environment, the children can grow to their fullest potential in all aspects, whether it is spiritual, emotional, physical or intellectual. This method which is set in a home environment is geared to meet specific needs of each child. When these needs are met, children will play and learn enthusiastically.

Research has found that intellectual development in children begins before birth. We really do not know what the baby experiences when the baby is in the mother's womb for 9 months, but we know that they respond to voices, sound and music. Developing their mother tongue will start in the womb and you can start applying the Montessori system by speaking to your child when the baby is in your womb.

Many families use Montessori principles of child development at home to provide a supportive environment for infants, to prepare them for schooling or even sometimes to completely home-school their children. A mom will find it more convenient to work at home and be the child's guide by introducing them to books, material and projects which nurtures the child, who with time will surpass their peers in many areas. Activities are self contained, self-correcting, and expandable, and therefore the parent will only need to supervise and teach.

One aspect of Montessori Method is "Practical Life." This can be easily adapted to the home situation as the mother is able to get her child involved in daily routines i.e. tie their shoe laces, put on their coats, prepare their snacks and drinks, go to the bathroom without help, and clean up after they have finished an exercise or clean up if they spill. There will be no necessity to teach grace and courtesy to a child if the family naturally provides such an environment. You can let your child help you in meal preparation and gardening. A child who in involved in the home routines will become independent and build self esteem.

Stay at home moms will have more time to spend with their children and enjoy doing things together. Thus, if they desire to discontinue home-schooling and send them to a Montessori school, the child would have by then received a good foundation and will thereafter need only to enhance these skills.

And of course, in the process of home schooling, parents would certainly save a considerable amount of money, while also being able to spend more quality time with their children.
