Joining a playgroup

Even the child from the generously-equipped home background will benefit from the stimulating atmosphere of a well run playgroup.

He may have already experienced at home many of the activities he finds there, activities such as playing with sand, water, dough, paint, cutting out and sticking together, etc. he may already have had the advantage of playing with another child. The playgroup will offer him all these as well as opportunities for vigorous and adventurous play within an area where supervision is always available.

Bookswill be there in greater numbers than he may have seen before. To all children there is the challenging step of meeting and accepting the wishes of others. There is also the gratification of having his own efforts acknowledged and praised by other children as well as adults. There is also the joy of moving to music, of singing and listening together. He will develop his powers of self-expression from listening, questioning and answering, and-last but not least-he may experience additional love and affection and so develop emotionally, becoming more mature and ready for an infant school.
