More about water-play

As has been emphasized in previous books in this series, all children like to play with water, whether it be filling and emptying, pouring, squirting, watering the garden, washing down the yard or the car, etc. let them wash the kitchen floor, the door, the kitchen furniture or utensils. These children are doing a careful wash and wipe of their own particular possessions.

It is the handlings of water that children find so much pleasure and relaxation and, by this age, growing control and dexterity are making it a much less messy business than at two or three.

Here is a little jingle, with actions:

If all the seas were ONE SEA
What a BIG SEA that would be.
If all the trees were ONE TREE
What a BIG TREE that would be.
If a man cut down the TREE
So that it fell into the SEA
What a BIG SPLASH THAT WOULD BE.
