Sand-play

Children of four, boys in particular, are very interested in ‘transport’ toys that work.

It is true also that the toys they can work themselves, rather than the mechanically propelled ones, are best for them, being the most adaptable, giving the most pleasure and usual lasting the longest.

Here are children playing with sturdy wooden toys, using them with that most generally useful of all play material-sand. We need continually to remember that sand as play material justifies its use throughout all the childhood years, is always appropriate and varies only in the uses to which it is put.
